Jonathan Oakman – VP of Development

Jonathan Oakman currently serves as Vice President of Development. Since joining the Landmark team in early 2016, he has been responsible for managing a portfolio of development projects that include industrial, office, and historic rehabilitation. He oversees Landmark’s work on each project through entitlement, pre-development, construction, and lease-up.  He also works closely with the President to source and evaluate potential deals.

Prior to Landmark, Jonathan served as Vice President for Development at Hanlan Consulting & Development, a commercial real estate development firm in Charleston. From 2009-2014, Jonathan was the Director of Business Services for the City of Charleston. In that role he provided assistance to small businesses and developers in site selection, business financing, tax credit financing, and navigating permitting and approval processes. While at the City, Jonathan created and staffed the Charleston Redevelopment Fund, a certified community development entity focused on providing tax credit financing to local community development projects.

Jonathan has a strong background in economic development, real estate finance, and community development. Prior to moving to Charleston, he worked for the New York City government financing affordable housing development, and also for the Alliance for Downtown New York, an economic development-focused non-profit. Jonathan holds a Masters in Public Affairs from Princeton University and a B.A. in political science from Williams College.  He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and holds a position on the board of Redux Contemporary Art Center.
